Sk-rt the Female Version of Digg
Written by kristen on March 25, 2008 – 7:33 pm -We all know the power of the social media site, Digg. Is the female version of Digg just as popular? Well, they launched in June 07 and they have a PR5 now with hundreds of posts…
“Sk*rt is an online media ranking site created for and by women, featuring topics women dig. Sk*rt was designed to promote sites, blogs, video, products, articles, ideas, art — anything online, really — to women and to the men who want to get in our heads. Sk*rt is basically a filter of cool stuff on the Web. If you aren’t familiar with the concept of Digg, it goes like this. Any item (site, product, idea, video, blog, article, etc.) can be submitted by anyone. Readers can vote for the items by clicking the “Love It!” button on the left hand side of each submitted item. The items that get the most votes raise up to the front of the site. It’s actually a great design, because it’s organized so that if you only have a few minutes, you can scan through what’s new, what’s highly ranked or what’s interesting to you; or you can search more specifically by category.”
If you are a woman and you want your site seen by women just like you, then I suggest submitting your site to sk-rt. You could end up with more women reading your posts and subscribing to your rss feeds.
Get started by registering at sk-rt, submitting a web page and updating your profile page. Then start checking out and commenting on submitted stories. If you want to boost some beginners stories, then start with the “Up & Coming Posts” first….then move on to the popular stories.
Visit Sk*rt…

Work at Home Mom Success Ideas
Written by kristen on March 21, 2008 – 11:16 am -Are you one of the many moms out there who would like to work from home so that you can homeschool your kids or not have to worry about being away from home 10 hours a day or more? I know how you feel and I have been there. It’s a struggle every day, but if I can do it, so can you!
Unfortunately it is not something that will happen overnight, but if you start now, you can be on your way to cutting back the long hours at work…then you can move on to part time work and eventually not needing to work outside of your home. Every parent needs to spend quality time with their kids. Working from home a few hours per day allows more time with your kids.
Where do I start?
If you want to earn money with Google Adsense then an information site might be where to start. You first need to come up with a good niche. Use the knowledge you already have to come up with your niche. For instance, if you homeschool your children then a homeschool resource blog or site might be the niche you should target. Create a 10 page site with information you use every day. Or create a blog and detail your daily homeschool activities. Sharing your knowledge with others is key. And if you create crafts or art, make a site or blog to display your products and use Google Adsense as a backup.

Clean, Simple Blog Design Theme and Navigation
Written by kristen on March 21, 2008 – 1:48 am -This is my second post and I feel it only right to discuss my thoughts about what I did with the look and feel of this blog. I believe a blogs design and ease of navigation are important right from the start. You don’t need anything fancy at all. In fact, a simple design that is pleasing to the eyes is much better. On top of that…make your navigation user friendly too. You want your visitors to have a reason to return.
For FemininePerspective.com, I decided to find a 3 column theme. I did this so that the navigation would not be long and messy. I am personally turned away by sites with a navigation or sidebar that keeps going and going and…you get the idea. I could have created my own theme, but I decided to just modify one that I had previously found. I did search through many themes on forums and blogs, but I kept coming back to this one because it just seemed to fit.
The changes I made to the design…
1. Changed the header image. I needed something more my style, so came about the beautiful brunette girl presenting FemininePerspective.com to you. I may change the header a little, but you may not even notice the difference. I am picky and will keep messing with something until I am happy with it.
